Learning outcomes

At the end of the first year, students are able to:

  • Demonstrate the acquisition of multidisciplinary public health knowledge.
  • Analyse the main public health issues/situations, understand and apply the knowledge of public health, knowledge of public health specialists (public health interventions, programmes or policies, etc.).
  • Understand how to conduct research into public health issues and strategies.
  • Analysing and interpreting health data.
  • Adopt different communication strategies depending on the context.
  • Critically evaluate the knowledge of each module and integrate the understanding of the different modules.

    • Healthcare systems – A comparative OECD countries
    • The parastatal insurance approach – the Belgian health insurance system within the health and social security system
    • International health: strengths and prospects
    • Economic analysis of healthcare systems: Organisation and financing
  • A critical approach to evidence-based public health (5 ECTS)
  • Law, legislation and regulation in the healthcare sector (5 ECTS)
    • Introduction to basic concepts of public law
    • Medical and biomedical law
    • Simulation parliamentary sessions
  • Societal and ethical issues in healthcare (3 ECTS)
  • Population health (3 ECTS)

Semester 2

  • Epidemiology (4 ECTS)
  • Analysis of public health action (4 ECTS)
  • Strategic management of healthcare organisations (4 ECTS)
  • One-Health and integrative approaches to healthcare (3 ECTS)
  • Integration module (EHESP Rennes France) (3 ECTS)
