M. Sowada Christoph (Poland)

Background :

• I studied economics and financing on the Higher School of Economics (SGPiS) in Warsaw (Poland) and on the Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen (Germany). After Graduation as Diplom-Volkswirt (theme of thesis: Stabilization of the Process of Transformation in Poland) I worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Economics II at the Justus-Liebig-University (till April 1995) and at the Institute of Public Finance at the University of Potsdam. After the Dissertation – theme: Health Security and Social Health Insurance - Normative Principles and their Realization in the Polish Social Health Insurance – in September 2000 I have moved to the Jagiellonian University of Cracow (Poland). I work here as a Assistant Professor (Adjunkt) at the Institute of Public Health. I teach Principals of Economics, Health Economics and Economics of Health Insurance. As Institute Coordinator I’m responsible for Post-Graduate Studies and Master Studies.
  My research work focuses on analysis of the social health systems in Europe, - elaborating of social health policy principles and regulations and analysis of the benefit package proposals in the social part of the health system. Since 2004 I’m policy advisor in the Polish Ministry of Health. I’m also private expert for the GP Health & Consumer Protection (European Commission)
