Teaching in :

Background :

  • Master degree in Economic Cybernetics I received at the Moscow Institute of Management (present name: State University of Management in Moscow) in 1972 and Ph.D. diploma - at the same institute in 1981.  I also specialised in the field of cost-effectiveness and Global Burden of Disease methodology in the Harvard School of Public Health (1994) and during the European Union fellowship in LSE-Health (1997-1998).  During my academic career I have conducted a number of projects in the field of health care systems’ reforms including: Development hospital’ financial management; Calculation costs of services and assessment total costs of health care in the country;  Contracting providers and control of contract’ realisation; Burden of disease and cost of illness studies; Creation effective investment policy in health sector; Assessment population’s health needs.  I work mainly on analysing and development health care system in Poland.  Also I have experience working as a temporary advisor for an international organisations (including WHO and World Bank) and also as a member of international teams realising transnational projects (Harvard School of Public Health;  ENSP, Rennes; London School Economics-Health; School of Health and Related Research, Sheffield University etc.).  I have served on a number of advisory committees (including leading of expert groups) to the WHO, World Bank, Polish Minister of Health, Regional Governments, Regional Sickness Funds, Polish National Health Fund.   

    I teach the following courses during the graduate, postgraduate and short courses, organised by the Institute of Public Health and other authorities: Health Economics; Basic Economics, Comparative Health Care Systems; Costing Methods; Economic Analyses of Health Care Interventions; Summary Measures of Population Health; Payment Methods of Health Care Providers; Contracting providers and control of contract’ realisation, Analysis Financial Situation of Hospitals.
