The course will start by summarizing the aims of the modelling approach and the main classes of theoretical models used in public health. The link with the data will be addressed, especially through parameter estimation. Numerical simulation and theoretical analysis techniques will also be presented in the light of their contribution to biomedical interpretation of modelling results. This course allows students to get used to different methods proper to this field and, through appropriate examples involving modelling techniques and critical reading of scientific papers, to their practical use.
