Stojgniew J. Sitko is an adjunct professor at the Institute of Public Health, Health Care Faculty of Jagiellonian University Medical College. He holds the PhD degree in engineering of AGH in Kraków, joint MBA at Jagiellonian University and Consortium of American Universities, he studied PH at SPHs at Harvard University and State University of Massachusetts. His research and teaching activities concentrates on management especially the operations management, qualitative methods and projects management. Area of his interest are also: public health evolution in post-socialistic countries and quality - particularly in education. He is author and co-author of over 50 publications and 5 books. He was a consultant and/or evaluator of more than 80 polish and international projects in health sector and tutor of over 40 diploma thesis.
He is with the Institute (former School) of Public Health since 1993, being in 1994-96 its deputy director. He was a coordinator of several international projects - among them the French-Polish cooperation in 1994-5 and 2 subsequent Tempus projects devoted to develop the public health education in the School. He was a project manager or consultant in a range of international projects among others with Phare, Foundation Project HOPE, Harvard SPH, Open Society Institute, ASPHER, WHO as well as with Polish MoH and abroad. To his international public health experience counts successful projects - among others, in: Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Russia, Serbia as well as Netherlands, France, UK and US.
He was an author and coordinator of over 30 different regular courses in various areas of health management mostly at Jagiellonian University, Academy of Economics in Kraków and Silesian Polytechnic University. Currently his is coordinating and teaching 5 courses at the BPH/MPH level as well as 3 curses for post-graduate students.
He is chairing the Departments Committee for Quality of Education and is the member of Scientific & Development and of Program Committees at the Facuty of Health Care. He is a re-elected member of the Executive Board of Association of Schools of Public Health of European Region since 2001 and is chairing the Accreditation Committee of ASPHER. He is an international PEER reviewer. Currently he is a main coordinator of the international LdV project: Accreditation of Public Health Training Programs in Europe.
