Graduating in medicine from Medical Academy of Krakow in 1973, I have specialized in work physiology, internal medicine, occupational medicine and ergonomics with the special reference to ergonomic analysis of work stress and worker’s strain, monitoring of circulatory strain during work, physical fitness, female occupational work, shift and night work, work ability. Working in the Chair of Occupational Medicine of the Jagiellonian University Medical College I was engaged in research, education of medical students and physicians, counseling for employers and trade unions. From 1993 to 2004 I head the Department of Ergonomics. In early nineties I was working part time in Jagiellonian University School of Public Health Department of Health Promotion.
I am secretary of the Committee on Ergonomics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and deputy editor-in-chief of quarterly “Ergonomia An International Journal of Ergonomics and Human Factors‿. Currently I am coordinator of the Research –Educational Centre for Shiftwork and Health and senior lecturer in Department of Ergonomics and Exercise Physiology of the Faculty of Health Protection of Jagiellonian University Medical College.
