French School of Public Health (EHESP)We are pleased to announce the creation of a new school as from 1st January 2008: Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique or EHESP. This translates to French School of Public Health. This new school will take over the missions and responsibilities of the former ENSP founded in 1945, but its scope will be extended to new specialities, diplomas and international collaboration. As such, the EHESP will have university status and will come under the auspices of the ministries for higher education, for labour, for health, and for social affairs. The French School of Public Health (EHESP), is the unique French provider of higher vocational training for senior healthcare managers of : hospitals (directors, medical doctors, nurse managers, hospital engineers), social welfare institutions (directors), local and regional health services (health and welfare inspectors, public health doctors and pharmacists, health engineers and technicians), and schools (school medical officers). Three areas of excellence characterise the EHESP: assessment of health risks (in which environmental health is a particular area of focus), health system evaluation and monitoring, and management of health and social welfare institutions. The EHESP is actively involved in providing up-to-date and authoritive knowledge in social and health care sector through the research activities of its two laboratories. It also carries out and heads co-operation programmes with universities, schools and professional organisations on a European and worldwide basis. Located on a 20 acre campus close to the town-centre (10 mn by metro), the EHESP takes in around 500 new students for initial training and caters for 5000 professionals on continuous training every year. With a team of 75 permanent teachers and top-rate training equipment (40 classrooms, lecture theatres, library, public health database, computer rooms, multimedia equipment), the school offers high quality conditions for carrying out studies.
